It explores historical context, theological themes, and the "Scarlet Thread" of God’s redemptive plan, making it ideal for personal growth or ministry preparation. Village School of the Bible has been teaching the Cover-to-Cover course for over 40 years. VSB is non-denominational.

Who can take this course?

Anyone with a desire to deepen their understanding of the Bible is welcome. The course is designed for beginners and seasoned learners alike, requiring only proficiency in English, basic computer skills, and a commitment to engage with the materials. We include anyone from the USA.

How long does the course take to complete?

The Global Online Cover-to-Cover course typically takes 9–12 months to complete, depending on your pace. It’s asynchronous, so you can get online at a time that works for you and adjust your schedule to fit your life.

Course Structure and Platform

What is the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS)?

Canvas is the user-friendly online platform that hosts the course. It organizes your learning with video lectures, quizzes, discussion forums, and a digital textbook. The intuitive dashboard helps you track assignments, grades, and progress.

What equipment does a student require?

If you wish to use a mobile device, you can download the Canvas App from the Google Play Store. or the Apple App Store for anytime, anywhere access to this course.

What does a typical course module include?

Each module includes video lectures from experienced instructor's interactive quizzes to reinforce learning, discussion prompts for community engagement, and clear instructions. You’ll also access a digital textbook with summaries and insights into the Bible’s themes.

What is the "Scarlet Thread"?

The "Scarlet Thread" refers to the recurring theme of God’s redemptive plan woven through Scripture, from the promise of a Savior in Genesis to its fulfillment in Revelation. The course highlights this theme to help you see the Bible’s unified message.

Community and Support

How do the discussion forums work?

Discussion forums on Canvas allow you to engage with peers and mentors asynchronously. Each module includes prompts, like “How does the covenant in Genesis point to God’s plan?” You’ll share insights, respond to, and benefit from mentor-moderated conversations, fostering a global learning community.

What kind of support is available?

A dedicated coordinator assists with navigating Canvas and troubleshooting technical issues. They also answer questions about the Bible or course content,

offering personalized guidance. Mentors provide encouragement and meet virtually for prayer and discussion.

Certificates and Diplomas

What credentials can I earn?

You can earn a Certificate of Completion by finishing all modules, quizzes, and discussions — ideal for personal enrichment. VSB's Diploma in Biblical Studies requires additional coursework and is suited for those pursuing formal theological training or ministry credentials. 

Can I use these credentials for further studies?

Yes, Diploma students may apply for recognition of prior learning for further studies at one of our partnering universities or seminaries. Contact us to learn more.

Do I need any prior theological training?

No prior theological training is required. The course is accessible to all, with materials and support designed to meet you where you are in your faith journey.

 When will the next course start?

VSB keeps the classes small so that discussions are meaningful. When enough students have signed up, a course will begin. It is anticipated that the next class will start in the fall of 2025.
